The setup is incredibly simple and requires minimal equipment. To run the event, you only need two basic components:

• A Display: A large-screen TV or a projector with a screen. Most of our clients find that a 55” TV placed on an attractive, skirted table is perfect and blends in nicely with standard casino equipment.

• A Playback Device: A laptop to connect to your screen, or simply a USB thumb drive if your TV supports direct USB video playback.

While adding themed décor—such as fencing or a pipe-and-drape backdrop—adds great visual appeal and increases the perceived value of your setup, it is completely optional. The core experience runs perfectly with just your screen and media!

Absolutely not! The simplicity of the event is a major part of its appeal for both you as the presenter and your guests.

• No Experience Required: You do not need to learn any racing terminology or specialized verbiage. All the professional race calling and authentic track atmosphere are built directly into the video.

• Universal Appeal: The game is designed for pure, high-energy entertainment. It provides just as much fun for complete novices of all ages as it does for experienced racing enthusiasts!

You can focus purely on hosting and keeping the energy high, while the video takes care of the rest.

Ask your client to send you:

1. What they want to name the ______ Downs. (e.g “Company Downs”, “Smith Reunion Downs” etc.).

2. Five names they would like to serve as the names of each race. (e.g. “Department Run”, “Group Sprint”, “City Stakes”, “Fundraiser Derby” etc.)

3. Thirty names of people that they know will be at the event that they would like to serve as “horse (stable) owners”.

4. If they are not custom naming the horses, they will need too go to our Horse Names Menu and choose one group of names per race. Be sure to note the “Code” from each group chosen.

5. If they would like to name the horses, they will need to supply thirty more names to serve as horse names.

You will need all of these before ordering from us.

Please keep all names to a maximum of 22 total letters, spaces and characters.

We also produce a custom race program template, and we can put a company logo, photograph, etc. on the front of the race program if your client would like.

Our announcer will then produce a voiceover of the races using the names that your client provided.

We prefer two weeks to work it into production; however, we will do our best to

accommodate rush orders.

THERE ARE ACTUALLY TWO!

1. The easiest way, and the way we do a lot of ours, is to have the guests go to one of the wagering windows and select one horse in each race. If their horse wins, they simply go back to the window and receive a prize drawing ticket. This is so simple. However, the simplicity in no way detracts from the excitement and high energy of the event! We strongly recommend that you use this system until you have a few events under your belt and really feel comfortable using the videos. You will quickly learn that putting on a Derby 'N' Dance party is as much fun for you as it is for the attendees!

2. We can provide you with play money (Horse Bucks), a dry erase odds board (with your or your company's name on it) and odds calculation sheets. The odds are calculated based on a pari-mutuel, meaning that the return each horse pays is determined by the total amount bet on that horse. Since this system is a little more sophisticated, you can charge the client more.

We have shipped hundreds of these all over the United States and Canada and we have never had one, not one, adverse comment about the animation.

We believe the biggest reason is that guests at events get so caught up in the excitement because of their names being on the video as the “horse owners” and they are so preoccupied screaming and hollering for their horses they do not really give much thought to the fact that it is animation. The animated, whimsical approach is much more conducive to a festive, fun-filled party atmosphere.

Again, they love hearing their names and seeing their names on the video, while clutching their race programs and wildly cheering for their favorite horses!

If the client would like to also name the horses then you will need to include the Custom Horse Names Add-On in your order.

When the client names just the “horse (stable) owners” they can select names from our menu and then match the “horse (stable) owners” up with the individual horses. When the client also names the horses our production is more labor intensive, which is why there is an additional charge.
